The city’s snowy mountains melted

1680 $

This painting was created in 2023. This year I was looking for a balance between life and desire while going out, and the work turned into lively small-size paper creations.

The cities built by people also create new ways of communication between people. One person is like a snow mountain. People were each brewing the happiness brought by melting, but the opportunity never came, and over time the snow-capped mountains turned into glaciers.

Creative themes and style |   My works revolve around the creative concept of  "The land of humanity, People on the land". The people in the painting are people in nature, and the lines, shapes, and colors are close to nature. The nature in the painting is nature in the eyes of humans, existing in interaction with humans.I don’t pursue a series of works with a fixed and continuous style. I hope that the style of the pictures will synchronize with the changes in my life and always remain oscillating. The performance of the work must be in sync with the development of one's own life in order to be Sincere and powerful. Ideas are later.

This painting, The Snow - Capped Mountain in the City Has Melted, outlines a portrait image with a unique artistic language. In the picture, the figure, under the watercolor wash, seems to emerge from a hazy mist. In terms of composition, the figure occupies the main space, and the soft gradient of the background, like an emotional halo created for the figure, guides the viewer to focus on the inner temperament conveyed by the figure, as if it is a silent conversation with the soul.

The use of color is restrained and layered. The gray - blue as the main tone is like the morning mist in the city, gently wrapping the picture; the warm brown and light yellow accents in the hair and clothing are like sunlight fragments piercing the mist, injecting warmth into the cold atmosphere and giving the picture a breathing - like rhythm. The painting style leans towards lyrical freehand brushwork. Abandoning fine realism, it uses freely flowing watercolors and simply sketched lines to endow the image with poetic qualities, as if the figure is a walker coming from an ink - wash dream, and every touch of color and every outline is telling an emotion.

The emotional expression is delicate and implicit. The figure's serene expression seems to gaze at the changes of the city. The metaphor of “the snow - capped mountain has melted” conveys a gentle acceptance of the passage of time and the blending of the old and new in the city, containing an optimistic tolerance and an expectation for the continuation of beauty. In terms of similar artists, it has a spiritual echo with Amedeo Modigliani's portraits. Both use simple lines and subjective colors to explore the charm of the figure. However, this work has more of the flexible wash of Oriental watercolors. It transforms the observation of the city and people into the soft whispers of colors, making The Snow - Capped Mountain in the City Has Melted not just a portrait, but also an artistic capture of life's philosophical thoughts. Between the real and the virtual, it evokes the viewer's resonance of the interweaving of urban memories and individual emotions, making art a link connecting the past and the present, illuminating the poetic glimmers in ordinary daily life.
