Urban scene in architecture4

980 $

This painting was created in 2020, the year I just graduated from college and was in a period of transition. The subject matter and style of painting continued from my college days.

The reference pictures for the series "Urban scene in architecture" all come from selfies taken by several of my friends. My friends and I met in the early days of "urban construction," and when I painted them, they were all hastily building themselves along with the urbanization process. This is the era I live in and the path that our peers in the same situation must take.

Creative themes and style |   My works revolve around the creative concept of  "The land of humanity, People on the land". The people in the painting are people in nature, and the lines, shapes, and colors are close to nature. The nature in the painting is nature in the eyes of humans, existing in interaction with humans.I don’t pursue a series of works with a fixed and continuous style. I hope that the style of the pictures will synchronize with the changes in my life and always remain oscillating. The performance of the work must be in sync with the development of one's own life in order to be Sincere and powerful. Ideas are later.

In terms of content, the natural droop of the long hair, the one - sided slipping form of the clothing, and the details of the earrings jointly construct a vivid figure image, capturing the lively posture in a daily instant. The composition follows the tradition of portrait paintings focusing on figures. The figure occupies the main part of the picture, and the simple gray tone of the background makes the viewers’ eyes focus on the figure’s form and expression, forming a concise and powerful visual guide. The color application is restrained and exquisite. The light gray background echoes the soft tone of the figure’s clothing. The skin color of the face, set off by the gray tone, presents a delicate transition between cold and warm tones. Especially the color blending on the neck and shoulders naturally connects the light and shadow, enhancing the sense of three - dimensionality. The painting style leans towards expressive realism. On the basis of realistically depicting the figure’s facial features and contours, it uses loose brushstrokes (such as at the edges of the hair and the folds of the clothing) to endow the picture with painterliness, avoiding falling into the stiffness of a photo - like depiction, and conveys the creator’s subjective perception. The emotional expression is implicit and delicate. The figure’s slightly drooping eyelids and quiet posture seem to tell of contemplation or a gentle mood when alone. The existence of the earrings adds a touch of life’s delicacy to this tranquility, triggering the viewers’ association with the inner world of the person in the painting. Similar artists can be associated with Lucian Freud’s exploration of the figure’s spiritual state. It can also be compared to modern portrait painters who seek a balance between realism and expression, such as Mao Yan. The capture of the figure’s temperament and the flexibility of brushstrokes in his works have common ground with this painting. With realism as the foundation, this painting, through the ingenious handling of colors and brushstrokes, transforms the individual portrait into an emotional container, allowing viewers to touch the emotional temperature of the figure in the details and feel the unique power of painting art in conveying subtle emotions.
