This painting was created in 2018. With the end of the sketching class this year, my sketching journey stopped at a few simple drawings for Miss Hui. Of course, my oil painting skills have also improved a lot in the past year or so, and I have carefully explored my own way of speaking.

Creative themes and style |   My works revolve around the creative concept of  "The land of humanity, People on the land". The people in the painting are people in nature, and the lines, shapes, and colors are close to nature. The nature in the painting is nature in the eyes of humans, existing in interaction with humans.I don’t pursue a series of works with a fixed and continuous style. I hope that the style of the pictures will synchronize with the changes in my life and always remain oscillating. The performance of the work must be in sync with the development of one's own life in order to be Sincere and powerful. Ideas are later.

Artwork Interpretation

This painting Seaside Street uses bright colors and agile brushstrokes to outline a romantic moment by the sea. In terms of modeling, the depiction of the figure's form is vivid. The woman, dressed in a blue sweater and a white long skirt, has a light posture, and her hair flutters in the wind, showing a natural sense of movement. This capture of the figure's dynamics has the same lively beauty as the figures in Renoir's paintings. However, Renoir paid more attention to the delicate texture of the human skin, while this work focuses more on the free atmosphere conveyed by the overall posture.

In terms of composition, the painter places the figure slightly to the left of the center of the picture. The red railing extending to the right, along with the distant sea and sky, forms a balanced and extended layout. This composition method is similar to Hopper's handling of space. Through specific positional arrangements, it creates a sense of story and atmosphere in the picture, making the viewer feel as if they can step into the painting and feel the sea breeze.

The color application is very bold and infectious. The blue sweater, sea, and sky form a strong contrast with the red railing between warm and cold colors. At the same time, the white skirt plays a role in reconciling the color conflict. This color combination reminds people of Matisse's subjective use of colors, using colors to express emotions and create an atmosphere. In this painting, the bright colors convey a joyful and relaxed mood.

In terms of brushwork, the painter uses relatively loose brushstrokes. The texture of the sweater is expressed through short and dense brushstrokes, while the skirt is outlined with smooth and gentle brushstrokes, creating an effect of combining the virtual and the real, enhancing the layering and three - dimensional sense of the picture. It has the characteristics of Impressionist brushwork, which emphasizes light, shadow, and instant feelings.

Regarding content and theme expression, the painting depicts a scene of a woman on a seaside street. The theme closely revolves around “romantic time by the sea”. Through the figure's posture, clothing, and the surrounding environment, it shows a comfortable and free living state. In terms of emotional expression, the woman in the painting has a smile on her face. The fluttering skirt and dancing petals all convey a joyful and romantic emotion, evoking the viewer's yearning for good times.

In the context of contemporary painting, this painting continues the exploration of the expressiveness of colors and brushstrokes in modernism and incorporates a poetic depiction of daily life scenes.
