Growing love

200 x 200 cm4800 $

This painting was created in 2019. This year is the third year of college. I started to prepare for my graduation work, so I tried paintings with more concepts, depth and formal unity. In these paintings, you Being able to begin to see a more specific me. Such attempts did add weight to the work, but it was only a small step compared to the depth that would later come with the weight of life. Then came the COVID-19 epidemic at the end of the year, and the future that people expected changed its face, either urgently or slowly.

The growth of emotions and love is like the growth of an embryo, like the growth of blood vessels and meridians in the body, like the growth of lightning, like the growth of vine leaf veins.

Creative themes and style |   My works revolve around the creative concept of  "The land of humanity, People on the land". The people in the painting are people in nature, and the lines, shapes, and colors are close to nature. The nature in the painting is nature in the eyes of humans, existing in interaction with humans.I don’t pursue a series of works with a fixed and continuous style. I hope that the style of the pictures will synchronize with the changes in my life and always remain oscillating. The performance of the work must be in sync with the development of one's own life in order to be Sincere and powerful. Ideas are later.

Artwork Interpretation

"When Love Grows" weaves figures and natural landscapes through a unique composition. The figure, positioned at the center, adopts an intimate posture, as if stretching out in the embrace of nature. It breaks the conventional spatial logic, creating a private and fantastical atmosphere. Similar to the surreal treatment of space in Chagall's works, it is yet more in tune with the implicit emotions of the East.

In terms of color, the rich and hazy tones are a highlight. The natural colors dominated by blue and green, interspersed with soft hues like purple and pink, capture the flow of light and shadow just as in Monet's Water Lilies series, but with an added touch of emotional warmth. The blending of colors blurs the boundaries, echoing the ambiguity and integration of emotions in love, making nature a carrier of feelings.

The content and theme revolve around "the growth of love", presented through the interaction between the figure and nature. The integration of the figure with mountains, waters, flowers, and plants symbolizes love breaking free from the constraints of reality and budding in the poetic realm of nature. It is similar to the connection between the self and nature in Frida's paintings, yet here it focuses more on love. Using body language and symbiosis with nature, it tells of the growth and spread of emotions.

The emotional expression is both implicit and passionate. The posture of the figure and the gentle tones of nature convey the initial throbbing and intoxication of love. Without direct depiction, it relies on visual elements to make viewers perceive that emotions, like nature, grow vigorously. In contemporary painting, it expands the visual path of emotional expression through the integration of tradition and modernity, allowing love to no longer be superficial, but a life experience rooted in nature and permeating the soul.

Q1: Why is the figure shown with her back turned to the viewer?

A1: The back-facing posture prevents direct eye contact, instead guiding the viewer’s attention to the body’s curves and the flow of surrounding energy. This composition emphasizes inner growth and self-contemplation rather than outward display.

Q2: What is the meaning of the petal-like forms in the painting?

A2: The petal-shaped structures resemble a dress, a seashell, or even a womb, evoking the image of a cosmic energy field. Enveloping the figure, they symbolize an emotion or vitality that is germinating and taking shape.

Q3: Why is the work titled “Aleph”?

A3: The title references Borges’ Aleph, a literary metaphor for a single point that contains all of time and space. Here, “Aleph” suggests that love and desire are not only personal experiences but also part of a universal process of growth and expansion.

Q4: How does the artwork express the theme of “the growth of love”?

A4: The figure’s bent, curled posture resembles a seed in germination, while the flowing natural forms and colors act as nourishing energy. The red markings and green radiance convey the sense of love and emotion expanding simultaneously within the body and into the outer world.

Q5: Why does the composition evoke a sense of fluidity and water?

A5: Water symbolizes both the origin of life and the fluidity of emotion. The painting’s ripple-like rhythm creates an atmosphere of constant movement and transformation, turning the theme of love’s growth into an ever-evolving energy field rather than a static moment.
